Open House Check List

Updated: Aug 26, 2022

Please see the list below know about the things that can be taken care of during Open House on Thursday, August 25 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

1. Meet your child's teacher and the other staff at our school.

a. While you are completing paperwork, please sign the Title I Parent Compact and keep the salmon or light purple colored copy for yourself.

2. If you requested bus transportation, check on your child's bus' a.m. and p.m. times.

3. If you have not requested bus transportation, but want your child to ride a bus, please fill out the transportation request during Open House.

4. Use the Chromebooks in the Media Center or your home computing/mobile device to complete any of the following:

  • Parent Contact/Volunteer Interest Form: This Google form will be used to create an email list for school communication as well as let us know if you want to be contacted about opportunities to volunteer.

  • RCS Volunteer Background Check: This form must be completed by anyone who plans to volunteer during the school year--this includes serving as a chaperone for field trips.

  • Join PTA: For $5 for each parent that joins, completing this step helps you connect with parents who are planning a great year of fun activities with opportunities for you to support our school. After you sign up and pay your dues, please send an email to houndspta@gmail.com that includes your name, your child's (children's) name, and your child's (children's) teacher's (teachers') name (names), so that their classroom (classrooms) will be credited for you joining PTA.

  • Apply for Meal Benefits: This form should be completed by any family who wants to see if they qualify for their children to receive breakfast and lunch at a free or reduced rate. Huntsville is not part of the Community Eligibility Program this year and student meals cost $2.25 for breakfast and $3.25 for lunch. RCS Child Nutrition will be able to provide the best answer about any other questions: 336-627-2691.

  • Prepay for School Meals: The K-12 Payment Center website allows families to place money on their children's cafeteria accounts to pay for breakfast, lunch, and extra items, instead of sending cash or check to school with them.

  • Sign Up for Parent Portal: Mrs. Martin, our school's Data Manager, has provided a letter in the back-to-school paperwork packet for 3rd-5th graders. (You will receive this when you visit your child's classroom). This letter helps families create an account for Parent Portal in Home Base, so that they can see their child's grades and other important academic information.
